[Summary from the Steam page]
Shishimai Rinka was a high schooler who ran a small café named Lion House in place of her grandmother. She lived her life much like any other person her age, but one day, she was caught up in an explosion while returning home on the train alongside her friend, Hitsuji Naomi. In an attempt to save her friend’s life, she shields her on instinct the moment the explosion goes off, losing her life in the process. However, before she knew it, she was back at Lion House, happily chatting with her friends as if nothing had happened in the first place.

“Good evening, my lovely little slaves to fate.”

A few days later, she found herself in a strange world. Here she met Parca, an odd girl claiming to be a goddess. It turns out that she had somehow become a participant in Divine Selection, a ritual carried out over twelve weeks by twelve people, which allowed them to compete in order to undo their deaths. Yet, what shocked Rinka most of all, was the presence of her friend Mishima Miharu amongst the twelve.

In order to get through Divine Selection, one must eliminate others by gathering information regarding their name, cause of death and regret in the real world, then “electing” them.

This turn of events would lead to her learning about the truth behind her death, as well as her own personal regrets. She would also come to face the reality that Miharu was willing to throw her life away for her sake, as well as the extents to which the other participants would go to for the sake of living through to the end.

Far more experiences than she ever could have imagined awaited her now, but where will her resolve lead her once all is said and done…?

A story that will make you want to keep playing until midnight…

Thrown in a strange adventure with 11 others, Rinka’s faith will be determined by them and her own skills in a twisted game that happens at midnight. Without giving out too many spoilers, let us just say that this adventure is going to be filled with all sorts of emotions. Fatal Twelve’s story is a complex and unforgettable one! While slightly confusing at first, it quickly starts to take place and you won’t want to stop reading. There are several twists to the story, most of them will keep you at the end of your seat.

We are being introduced to these unique and colorful characters; Rinka, Miharu, Mao and Naomi. We quickly grow attached to them and want them to stay happy together until the end, but sadly learn that this won’t be an easy task…  Then, we get to meet the set of characters who will be participating in the Divine Selection. From the most threatening characters to the most innocent ones, each has their own story that is guaranteed to surprise you. One of the great aspect of these protagonists is that they are not your typical one-dimension characters. They are mostly believable and human in a way that each has their own secrets and are not completely entitled to a specific role. A menacing character may surprise you with it’s kindness while a more gentle looking hero might have more than meets the eye…

The art of Visual Novel

This VN is everything that you would like one to be. It has choices, multiple endings, a slight romance, a very nicely written scrip with great voice acting and so much content for a decent price. Most visuals are also really well developed with many details and a unique color palette. The only aspect of the game that did not hit me more was the soundtrack. It was a great soundtrack, but no song came in as truly recognizable to me. May be because there was too many of them for a short Visual Novel (the official soundtrack features two discs of about 20 songs each).

Fatal-twelve

Overall, this was a really great title that fans of the VN genre would enjoy! It has all the suspense and emotions that will keep you attached to the characters and so many great twists! We highly recommend it for anyone who did not get the chance to play it already!
